Come join us as we enjoy the beauty of the mountians and history of the Kern River Valley.  We are approximately 48 miles east of Bakersfield California.  This area includes Lake Isabella and the Kern River.  There's not a better way to enjoy fresh mountain air and some the most beautiful country in the world than on horseback.

We offer you a great way to get exercise as the horse takes you across some challenging trails.  The horse takes care of you as you take in the scenery of the area.

One of our accomplished riders will accompany you to insure a safe and enjoyable ride and share the rich history and folklore of the area.  The Kern River Valley has a wide variety of plants and wild animals that you are likely to encounter as you move away from the well-traveled areas.

We take great pride in matching our riders skill and temperment with the horse that will offer the most pleasant experience possible.

LOCATION

This is a map of the Kern River Valley.  We are located where the little white square is on the far left of the map.  The trailhead is located just off of highway 155 (below the main dam).  If you are coming from Lake Isabella on highway 155 take a left hand turn, just after you cross the river, onto Keyesville Road.  This is a recreational site and there is a raft launch site area along with many trails that off road vehicles and bikes use.  You should see a yellow sandwich board with our logo (3 blue horseback riders on the trail).  After you cross the cattle guard, it is about 1 mile until you reach the trailhead.  You will see the truck, trailer and horses waiting for you.  If you are still having trouble locating us, please call us and we will be happy to give you more precise directions directions.

  • Safety is our first concern.  We make it our goal to keep the customers and the horses safe.  With the information that you give us, we match-up the horse and rider accordingly.  For those of you that have never been on a horse before to those of you that have been riding your whole life...we will make this experience wonderful, memorable and fun. On the next page, you'll see a section set up for the customers that want to share their experiences.  They have sent us pictures, cards, and gifts to say "Thanks".  We are lucky to call them friends.  All staff are first-aid and CPR certified.
  • The age limit for riders is 5 years and up.  Anyone under the age of 8 must have a member of the Kern

ValleyTrail Rides staff walking beside them, instructing them, guiding and leading the horse too.                     Anyone under the age of 14 must wear an approved helmet (which we provide) while riding the horses.

  • Each person must ride their own horse.
  • Weight Limit is 250 lbs.  You must be able to mount the horse without any assitance from others.
  • No one under the influence of any substance can ride or even be around the horses.
  • No one can smoke around the stock or while riding the stock (horses).

This site is still under construction.  Please contact us by phone until further notice.

We are able to  accomodate larger groups and extended trips.

As you can see, the first hour is our most expensive hour.  After the first hour though, we give you a price break instead of charging double.

For instance, if 2 people go for and hour ride it will cost $90 total.  But if those same 2 people go for a 2 hour ride they get a price break of $30 because it will only cost them $150 instead of $180.

The more people you have the better the cost per hour after the first hour.

For 6 people for 2 hours the price is $450 instead of $540...a $90 difference.

We are able to accomodate larger groups and extended trips.  We suggest  that  make reservations as soon as possible because the summer months are booked early in the season.

We have a 2 person minimum on all our rides.  If you are a single rider, however, we can include you with other groups if there is enough space and notice.

We gladly accept cash, checks (with a valid I.D.), VISA and MasterCard.  A 20% deposit is required for reservations and is non-refundable.  The full balance of your trip is due on the day of your trip.

Once again, if you have any questions, please call us at business (760) 379-4929 or cell (760) 417-0784.
